Protect your car’s

What’s the point in spoiling brand new expensive covers anyway? You can also remove the mats completely for the season and try the disposable ones.

with water proof car covers:Always park your car with car covers to Keep your vehicle cooler, dryer, dust free, water proof & protect your car from the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation, acid rain etc.- Avoid skidding:Replace cracked tires, check air pressure and make sure the wheels are properly balanced and aligned. This will prevent your car from skidding on a wet road. This is all the more necessary when the first shower arrives.
- Check the brakes:Make sure that your car brakes are well-oiled and are working properly. You never know when you may have to hit the brakes on a wet, slippery road.

Application:
Make sure the surface to be polished is clean and dry. Fresh paint should be fully cured. Apply Super Finish out of direct sunlight.Use a soft foam finishing pad, like Lake Country’s Finishing Pad Apply polish to the vehicle. With the polisher turned off, spread the polish over about a 2 x 2 sq. ft. area.
Polish at 1200-1800 RPM (5-6 OPM on a dual action polisher) working slowly across and then up and down the area. Check your work after several passes to see if the defects have been removed. If so, reduce the pressure and continue buffing until a high gloss is achieved. If the pad becomes dry, mist it with water and continue buffing. Wipe the area with a damp microfiber cloth. Apply a wax or sealant after polishing.

Holi Colours: How to Protect and Clean Your Car during Holi festivities
Holi is a festival of colour and cheer, but one that can leave owners of shiny white cars with multi-coloured heartburn. If you love your car you better make sure it’s well protected from the raucous festivities, as not everyone uses dry natural colours to "Play Holi".
It’s a pretty common sight a day after Holi to see white cars with blue, pink and purple stains all over them. And it’s even worse when the car’s upholstery and interiors get soiled by Holi colours, as this is very difficult to clean without damaging the car. What should I do to protect my car from colours of Holi? Will the colour remain permanently on my car? How do I remove that ugly stain? Are a few questions which impatiently arise in minds of all, whether it is you or me.
Here are some tips to protect your car from the Holi onslaught as well as some to clean up any accidental mess that may happen.
Protecting your car from Holi colours :
1. Cover the car, don’t use it
The most common-sense way of protecting your car from Holi is obviously not using your car on this festive day. Just keep it parked away safely and if you have a Car Cover, this would be the ideal time to use it and keep your prized possession under wraps.
2. Apply wax polish before Holi
However, if you live in a complex where it’s hard to avoid being part of the Holi celebrations, take some precautionary measures before the festival. Wash and clean the car and then apply a good coat of Wax on the car. The wax will prevent colours from soaking into the top-coat of the paint. If your car was recently “Teflon” coated, that too would do.
For further protection, especially if you think just waxing is not going to be enough, use kitchen wrap or “cling film” over vulnerable areas especially over the door handles, boot lid, bonnet and fenders – areas where people are likely to lean on or touch your car during the festivities. It may look a little ridiculous wrapping your car in cling film a day before the festival, but it will save you a lot of trouble later
3. Protecting the interiors
If the car is going to be used on Holi, then you better take some precautions for the interiors as well. Disposable car seat covers & floor mats is a very good option to protect the car interiors If that’s not possible, use old curtains or terry towels you may have at home and drape them around the seats, using safety pins to keep them in place. Wrap things like inside door handles, the steering wheel and gear knob in cling film or food wrap to prevent colour getting on it.
How to remove Holi colour stains from your car
Despite all the precautions, sometimes your car can still become a victim of the festivities. If your car does get some color on it, don’t fret, there are still ways of cleaning up the mess.
First Wash and Clean the car using only water and a good car shampoo. Don’t use household detergent or dish cleaning liquid, as they are very harsh and will remove the polish film from the car’s surface as well.. With some chemical Holi colours, this may be needed as they will eat into the car’s finish
If the damage to the paint is deeper, you may need to resort to more extreme measures to remove the colour. The first step is to use a Rubbing Compound depending upon the car condition (Meg Diamond Cut, IF Super Cut, Formula 1 Scratch-Out etc) Gently rub this over the affected paint Buff it off with a dry Microfiber cloth. Repeat if there’s still some stain left.
Once you’ve managed to get the colour stain out, immediately wash the area with clean water, dry it with Drying Towel and then apply thick Wax Polish over the car again to protect the paint finish.(Meguiar’s Polish/Glaze, Mothers Polishing Glaze)
If your car upholstery has been stained due to Holi colours, it is much more difficult getting it out (Meg Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, Formul 1 Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, Xtra Duty Plus etc..) For leather upholstery, you can Leather Cleaners and a Soft Brush to work up a foam and clean it. Then use a leather Conditioner to protect it. For fabric upholstery, you will require a “dry-cleaning” process done, but that too won’t get all the colour out. You may have to change your seat covers.

You may also hear other similar phrases thrown around such as hazy headlights, cloudy headlights, or foggy headlights. However, don’t assume that it’s from your lack of care for your vehicle as the root cause. In fact, it is quite common and hundreds of thousands of cars face the same problem. Fortunately, anyone can restore their headlights and bring them back to crystal clear condition!
Hazy headlights are dangerous!
Most people do nothing about their cloudy headlights and assume their is no affect on overall visibility. However, that is far from the truth! Why do headlights become hazy?
Most headlights are made from plastic / polycarbonate material. Overtime the clear coat will fade which causes oxidation to occur through normal everyday usage. This oxidation is only accelerated by the strong UV light from the sun if your vehicle is outdoors for long periods of time, tiny dirt, debris, and grime that contacts your headlights while in motion, and any chemicals that range from acidic rain to chemicals used to melt snow.

Weekly checks for your car
Small preventive measures go a long way in ensuring that you dont run up a hefty bill when you take care for serving
Your car goes through a lot of changes everytime you driveit. While there is no subtitute for a thorough check-up by taking it to a proper service centre, a few simple weekly checks will ensure that when the time comes to put it in the servicing bay, you wont burn a hole in your pocket . Ensure to read the owner's manual, as all basic instructions needed to carry out routine checks can be found in it. Here is a list of weekly checks that you should carry out in order to ensure that your car remains trouble freee....
Coolant
The coolant level in the coolant bottle should be checked every week. The coolant bottle is usually located close to the radiator. Since the coolant level fluctuates with changes in the engine temprature it's best to check the level when the engine is still cold.
The bottle will have a high and low level mark and the fluid levels should be between the two marks. If the coolant is in concentrate form, dilute it using distilled water. Never use tap water in your cooling system. For topping up always use coolant that is recommended by manufacturer.
Engine Oil
The engine oil not only lubricates the engine , it also keeps it clean, prevents corrosion as well keeps the engine cool by carrying away heat from the moving parts. When checking the level of engine oil, ensure that the car is parked on a flat surface, preferably with the engine cold. The best time to do this would be before you start the car in the morning. First remove the dipstick & wipe with a clean cloth and note the maximum and minimum levels. Now, reinsert the dipstick and remove it and note the oil level. It should be closer to the high level mark. Top up, If necessary. While topping use a small funnel as it will help prevent spillage. Remember, to reinsert the dipstick.
Battery
The battery is a much neglected part of the car's electrical system and the cause of the most breakdowns. Nowadays, with most batteries being sealed for life, the needed for the topping up of electrolyte is no longer required. However, ensure that the terminals are free of corrosion and that the battery case is clean and dry.
Apply little bit of grease to prevent moisture accumulation on the terminals. However, if your battery is non sealed type then check the level by removing the caps and ensure that the electrolyte covers the plates. Always top up with distilled water as tap water can contaminate the electrolyte and shorten the life of the battery.
Tyres
The tyres dictate a car's handling and braking performance. Maintain corrent air pressure level i all the tyres since in correct pressures can cause premature tyre wear and tear apart form poor handling. Over inflacted tyres can cause the car to aquaplane in the wet since the contact patch becomes smaller.

About Microfibers
There is a diverse offering of microfiber products for automotive detailing, including towels, applicators, gloves, dusters and wash mitts. In the microfiber towels category alone, you will find dozens of different weaves, material weights, fabric blends, colors and sizes - microfiber detailing towels, microfiber waffle weave towels, and even a chamois towel. Here's how I categorize microfiber towels for my own use:
- All Purpose - This is typically a microfiber towel with a standard split weave and an 80/20 blend of polyester and polyamide. The towel has no specific purpose, and will be equally adept wiping paint, glass, vinyl, plastic and leather. This towel will have a medium thickness (plushness) nap.
- Glass & Polishing - Microfiber towels that work well for polishing and glass cleaning seem to have the same basic characteristics. First, a glass cleaning cloth should be 100% lint free. In most cases, this means the weave is going to have a shorter nap than a general purpose towel. Many people believe that a good glass towel will leave as little water as possible so the droplets will evaporate without leaving a spot. A good glass towel needs scrubbing power to successfully remove the residues that cause streaking. It's the same characteristic that makes a good polishing cloth.
- Drying - My favorite drying towel material is Leather Chamois, Synthetic chamois, PVA Chamois ability to wick up water like nothing else I've found or tested. It's best to find a fabric that's not too heavy, or you won't be able to wring it out when it gets saturated.
- Final Buffing - extremely soft, plush microfiber towels with a higher fabic weight than you find in general purpose or drying towels and is made of a 70/30 blend of polyester and polyamide.
Maintaining Microfiber Towels:
Do not use fabric softeners of any kind. The softener will become lodged in the microfiber reducing its ability to absorb water, clean and pick up dirt. In short, you’ll have a soft towel that’s useless.
Do not dry above medium heat. Treat microfiber towels the same as you would your delicate clothing. Drying with high heat is worse that washing in hot water.
